Precaution
Please do not use the product if you are allergic to rose. Though the product is absolutely free from chemicals and preservatives, we suggest you do a patch/intake test before using it as a regular product. Consume it only under the guidance of a registered health practitioner.
Care for the product
Use the product within 2 months of opening the pack. Use it regularly to feel the benefits of using rose water. Apart from the 100ml mist dispensing bottle – keep other sized bottles in the refrigerator. Always close the lid tight immediately after use. Since 200ml & 500ml bottles are open mouth, ensure they remain free from contamination. This is because the product is 100% free from chemicals and preservatives and therefore calls for proper care.
What should be the only ingredient in pure rose water?
The ingredient list should simply mention steam-distilled rose flower water, also called rose hydrosol.
There should be no added rose fragrance, synthetic colour, preservative or hidden cosmetic base. If anything else has been added, it should be clearly disclosed in the ingredient list.
Are Rose Water, Rose Hydrosol and Gulab Jal the Same?
Traditionally, all three names can describe the aromatic water obtained by distilling real rose flowers. Distillation that we use is an old technique.
But in today’s market, these names are not always used consistently. A product called gulabjal may be genuine rose hydrosol—as it may be water mixed with rose fragrance, colour, preservatives or rose extract.
So, never judge a product only by its name or the claims written on the front. Turn the bottle around and read the complete ingredient list.
What does “steam-distilled” actually mean?
Real rose flowers are placed inside a distillation vessel with water. As the water is heated, steam passes through the flowers and carries their delicate, water-soluble aromatic compounds.
The steam is then cooled and condensed back into liquid.
That naturally aromatic liquid is rose hydrosol—what we commonly call pure rose water
Why doesn’t pure rose water smell strongly of roses?
Because rose water and rose perfume are not the same.
Steam-distilled rose water has a soft, delicate and naturally floral aroma. It will not usually smell as strong, sweet or long-lasting as perfume.
A stronger fragrance does not automatically mean more roses, better quality or greater purity. It may simply be the result of added rose fragrance.
Should pure rose water be pink?
Steam-distilled rose water is clearmeaning colourless.
Although rose petals themselves have colour, that colour does not normally travel with the steam during distillation.
A bright pink colour may come from added colour, rose extract or a different preparation method. Colour alone cannot prove purity—so once again, read the complete ingredient list.
Can genuine rose water smell slightly different from one batch to another?
Because roses grow in nature. They are not prepared in laboratory.
Their aroma is influenced by the natural conditions like soil, sunlight, rainfall, humidity, harvesting time, stage of flowering and even the conditions during distillation.
At SERENE SNAANA, we do not add artificial fragrance to make every batch smell identical.
When real rose flowers vary, the rose water obtained from them may naturally vary too. These differences are not necessarily imperfections—they are part of working honestly with real flowers.
Should rose water contain preservatives?
No, Preservative is not required. Though Rose water is water-based, so microbial safety must always be taken seriously.
Preservative-free rose water must be carefully distilled, hygienically handled and filled, appropriately packaged, laboratory-tested and used within its recommended shelf life.
Can pure rose water be used both on the skin and in food?
Yes, why not, if the rose water is pure made with single ingredient that is rose flower and clearly labelled edible then it is good to use for food, skin or anything.
This SERENE SNAANA Edible Rose Water can be misted onto the face as a toner or skin refresher. It can also be added in a suitable quantity to drinking water, tea, beverages, desserts and other foods, just ensure that you are not allergic to roses.
But never assume that every cosmetic rose water is edible. Always check its complete ingredient list, intended use and product label.
Why is SERENE SNAANA Rose Water more expensive?
Because genuine rose water requires substantial quantities of real roses, careful harvesting, slow steam distillation, hygienic small-batch production, laboratory testing and protective glass packaging.
We are not mixing ordinary water with inexpensive rose fragrance and colour.
You are paying for real flowers, the time-intensive traditionally used distillation process and the purity maintained from the rose harvest to the final bottle.
Real rose water is not made by making ordinary water smell like roses.
This is my second purchase of rose water and can surely say the quality is top notch,it's pure and organic.I even add in my herbal teas, it taste so good.Thank you for amazing products.
And i have one recommendation what if you also start selling organic and pure rose essential oil.I searched everywhere but can't surely say about the quality.
Thank you for the lovely feedback — and especially for understanding the difference between real rose water and fragranced rose water.
Regarding pure Rose Essential Oil — we did explore making it during our initial years. However, authentic rose essential oil is extraordinarily expensive to produce, costing no less than around ₹20 lakh per litre.
To obtain approximately 1 litre of rose essential oil, nearly 7,000–8,000 kg of fresh roses are required with quantity varying from season to season. With rose flowers averaging around ₹250 per kg, and then adding transportation, distillation fuel/electricity, labour, sterilised bottles, testing and other processing costs, the final price becomes exceptionally high.
We even produced a small quantity of around 100 ml in our early years, but we simply could not find buyers for genuine rose essential oil at the price its purity demanded. So, despite being able to make it, we decided not to take the product forward.
One thing has always been clear at SNAANA: we may choose not to sell a product, but we will never compromise its purity or mislead a customer about what is actually inside the bottle.
And we must say — you are among the very very few customers who have specifically asked us about pure Rose Essential Oil. It reflects how consciously you look at ingredients, purity and the process behind a product. Very often, the true cost of a genuinely pure product is difficult to understand unless one considers the quantity and quality of raw material that goes into making it.
We genuinely appreciate your thought process ma'am.
Thank you
