Vetiver Hydrosol: Vetiver roots from the miracle grass may help promote sleep, skin health, boost mood, and soothe anxiety. Vetiver root is a perennial densely tufted root containing sweet, pleasant, and earthy aroma with multipurpose uses from being a medicine, perfume, food & beverages flavor to an effective tool in combating soil erosion.

Vetiver is known by multiple names as Khas Khas or khus, vetivert, vatiivelu, Bala vala, etc. In some places in India, poppy seeds are also known as khus. But the two herbs vetiver and poppy seeds are different.

Indians were the first to recognize the aromatic, medicinal & environmental importance of vetiver. It’s found growing naturally in tropical climates in India. It is cool in nature.

Two different varieties of vetiver are found in India

1-Found in the north along the Indo-Gangetic plains and adjoining states like Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Uttrakhand, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, etc.

2-Found south along the east & west coast of the Indian peninsula in the states like Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, etc. Of the two varieties, north India-produced thick roots is considered superior to south India-produced thin hairy roots.

Making of Vetiver water – ark at SNAANA

It takes a handful of tufted roots to produce a few drops of its water. Purely an ancient technique called steam distillation is practiced to ensure zero chemicals and zero preservatives are used. Pure steam distilled water is best preferred to eat and apply for the desired benefits.

Application/Usage

Use it to make vetiver herb green tea.
Use it as medicine the same dosage as mentioned in green tea 3-4 times a day. Use it regularly/religiously depending upon the need to seek relief. Or use it under the guidance of an ayurvedic practitioner.
Use it as a face toner and use it on the skin after a proper cleanse every morning and evening to fill the skin pores. This helps in tightening the skin pores making the skin firm. It is suitable for intense dry, dry and normal skin. It is very good for aging skin that suffers concerns like pigmentation, age spots, aging, etc. The water can be used directly on the skin without diluting it.

Use it in a diffuser – add vetiver water without diluting it to the diffuser cap. Turn it on for a mild soothing aroma. The mild earthy aroma is very soothing, cooling, and calming to mind and body.
