The fine powdered blend of lentils, petals, seeds creates a very soothing aroma and a pampering bath for babies. These ingredients have been in use in bath rituals for times unknown.
This powdered bath cleans the skin surface and pores effectively giving skin its needed nourishment.
Take 2 tablespoons of staple powder and make a running paste by adding tap water or steam distilled lavender/Rosewater. Apply it to the baby’s body with a very light gentle massage, and then make the baby sit in cool water in summer and lukewarm water in winters for 10 minutes. You can apply the same paste on the diaper rash gently but do not rub the rash area. Do not use soap after this bath.
Make sure to apply gently on the baby’s skin. Do not rub intensely. Baby skin is very thin and delicate. Do not apply it to the hair.
During winters – make the paste using milk. You can add 2 drops of almond oil/olive oil/hemp seed oil to the paste to overcome dryness caused by the weather.Â
To treat diaper rash – apply diaper rash balm immediately after shower to heal and calm the rash.

Q.1: What is baby ubtan?
Ubtan traditionally has been a mix of fine powdered grams, lentils and herbs to rub – clean and nourish the baby skin. An authentic ubtan formulation with all ingredients listed on the product should be containing familiar and plant derived ingredients only. However in today’s chemically throttled world, ubtan products may contain chemicals/synthetics and preservatives too.
Q.2: Is ubtan safe to use on babies?
Ubtan is absolutely safe to use on new born babies to clean and nourish the skin. This is simply because Ubtan is a mix of fine powdered grams/lentils and herbs.
Q.3: How can I remove unwanted hair from my newborn baby’s skin?
Every baby is born beautiful and unique and hence hair may stay or may go on its own over the time. Ubtans may help but do not guarantee hair removal. We suggest do not ever use hair removers – wax or shave to remove the hair.
Q.4: How can I make baby ubtan at home?
Baby ubtan is a traditional recipe made with ingredients usually found in the kitchen. A basic ubtan is a mix of gram flour, turmeric and milk however; a mom with knowledge in ayurveda would certainly add many more vital ingredients to it. With fast paced life and changing human body requirements – many nuts and seeds, grams/lentils and herbs have come into use to fulfill and suit all skin types of the newly born child. And therefore ubtans have found a market that provides convenience to mothers.
Q.5: How often should ubtan be used to clean the baby skin?
Ubtans should be used 2-3 times a week.
Q.6: How is baby ubtan made at SNAANA?
Making of ubtan is laborious and time consuming. All ingredients are sourced from certified farmers in the form of nuts, seeds and fresh/dry flowers. The ingredients are dried and hand milled to fine powder to ensure a gentle smooth rub when applied on skin. All fine powdered ingredients are blended with other as per the composition of the product under the supervision of the formulator. Each product batch takes about 8-10 days be get ready to fill the jars.
Q.7: Can ubtans be used on new born babies?
Yes, ubtans can be used on new born babies as skin cleanser.

SNAANA baby ubtan is a blend of powdered Jojoba Seeds, Chamomile Flowers, Oats, Green Lentils, Rose Petals, Marigold Petals, Lavender Essential Oil.
It's a blend of highly appreciated time-tested herbs for fragile skin that provides a natural cleansing through the saponins found in seeds while absorbing moisture through herbs and lending a moisturized clean feel. Since it is in dry form, it does not need any chemicals or preservatives at all and this makes it last longer as you have to add water to make a running paste.
Water is usually a filler found in many products and the presence of water calls for must addition of chemicals like emulsifiers, stabilizers and many other fixative agents.
SNAANA Ubtan is very good not only for babies but for adults with highly sensitive skin.
Take 1-2 tablespoons of SNAANA staple powder and make a running paste by adding tap water or steam distilled lavender/Rosewater. Apply it to the baby’s body with a very light gentle massage and rinse with lukewarm or cool water depending upon the climate. Thereafter apply after shower oil.
