Hemp seed oil with its multiple health benefits is making a comeback. It belongs to cannabis family the same family as marijuana but the two plants are contrastingly different in terms of cultivation, composition, function, and application.

Pure Hemp seed oil is a rich source of healthy fatty acids as it contains more than 75% of Polyunsaturated fatty acids PUFA, Omega 6, and Omega 3 fatty acids which are essential for human health.

This cold-pressed oil is a green colour edible oil with a nutty flavour that has high phytochemical content like vitamin A, E, potassium, zinc which makes it an effective skin moisturizer for all skin types, be it acne, or dry skin, or eczema.

Add oil to your salads or smoothies/shakes or meals to provide the body with the needed nutrients. One can take about 1 teaspoon a day with any time meal or snacks.

This oil is not suitable for deep frying as it has a relatively low flash point because of the presence of high unsaturated fatty acids. The shelf life too is affected because of highly unsaturated fatty acids as these are more prone to oxidation with atmospheric oxygen. Oil stored in plastic is more prone to degradation over time hence prefer the oil that comes packed in a glass bottle.

Q1: From where do SNAANA source seeds to produce cold pressed hemp seed oil?

We at SNAANA source the hemp seeds directly from the farmers undertaking cultivation of hemp seeds in the Himalayan region of Kotdwar in the state of Uttrakhand. Uttrakhand is the first state to legalise the cultivation of hemp seeds. The area has alluvial soil with adequate rainfall making the region suitable for hemp seed cultivation.

Q2: Is SNAANA’s hemp seed oil is completely organic?

The farmers growing hemp follow guidelines of US organic food standards to ensure a healthy harvest thereby fetching them a good price. Post sourcing the seeds from farmers after a due diligent check, the hemp seeds are cold pressed for a raw, unrefined and nutritious hemp seed oil. Since we are closely involved in all the stages- Purity is definite.

Q3: How SNAANA provides hemp seed oil at an affordable price?

Since there are no middlemen involved, the farmer gets a good price and we are able to sell hemp seed oil online in India at an affordable price and this contact with farmers also helps us to show our entire process from cultivation to cold pressing to our clients.

Q4: How much THC does SNAANA Hemp seed oil contain?

Low – negligible THC content in hemp seed oil is the reason behind the government of Uttrakhand to take the first step in the direction of legalizing hemp cultivation. The THC content in SNAANA hemp seed oil is less than 0.3% which means – negligible psychoactive content when consumed. While the THC content in marijuana is between 5%- 30%.

Q5: What is the difference between Hemp and Marijuana?

Hemp is completely different from marijuana in terms of cultivation, composition, effects and application.

  • The THC level in hemp is found to be less than 0.3% whereas in Marijuana it is between 5-30%
  • The tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is the chemical responsible for psychoactivity but hemp seeds with low THC content have a negligible psychoactive effect also, the CBD (cannabidiol) content found in hemp makes the 0.3% THC present in hemp useless. So hemp has no psychoactivity while marijuana does have.
  • The look and appearance of each of the plants are different with hemp plants having skinnier leaves and taller up to 20ft. While Marijuana plants are short fat bushes with broad leaves and tight buds.
  • Both need different climatic conditions to grow.

Q6: Can drinking hemp seed oil make you high?

No, Hemp seed oil won’t make you high simply because it contains very low THC content which is responsible for psychoactive effects.

Q7: How to take hemp seed oil for OMEGA 3 and OMEGA 6?

Consuming about 5- 10 drops or half a teaspoon of unrefined virgin cold pressed hemp seed oil is good for making body sufficient with Omega 3 & Omega 6 healthy essential fatty acids. Do not exceed the daily intake of 10 drops. Take it with any meal or snacks, any time of the day.

Q8: Can hemp seed oil be used for cooking?

Hemp seed oil can be used in food for its rich nutritional value but never use the oil for frying purposes. It has a low frying point. You can make chutneys, mayonnaises or use as garnishing agent.
