ECZEMA / PSORIASIS

Psoriasis is a chronic skin condition which leads to the formation of abnormal skin patches. These patches are distinctively red, causing itching and scaly skin. It is an autoimmune condition occurring due to the faster life cycle of skin cells. In a normal condition, skin cells have a life cycle of 28-30 days wherein new cells produced in the skin make their way to the top and the old surface skin sheds off in the form of dead skin. But Psoriasis has a skin cycle of 4-5 days (may vary from person to person). This causes the formation of thick scales on the skin. Psoriasis can occur anywhere on the body including hands, feet, neck, face or even the area around the genitals.
